I made it out to Tifft Nature Preserve with my good friend Kevin Rybczynski yesterday to try and score a lifer Fox Sparrow that was spotted earlier in the morning. While we did not find the Fox Sparrow, we managed to get sucked into the magical world that is Tifft Nature Preserve. I was focused on finding that one species so I missed out on countless waterfowl and other fantastic birds that were there, but... I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves:

Rick, Again I want to thank you for the incredible photographs on your Blog. You mentioned your "spark" bird and asked those who read your Blog to share their story. I call your "spark" bird an "epiphany" bird and ask every birder I meet what their epiphany bird is. I always receive an answer from the individual immediately without hesitation. My epiphany bird is the Cedar waxwing. One day I was walking our two German shepherds around a lake at our Springville house when I saw a bird with a dark mask, a tawny body and a crest. It was amazing! I went back to the house and spent at least 40 minutes looking through an old bird guide to identify the bird I had seen. When I found out that it was called a Cedar waxwing, I realized I needed to know more about the world of birds. That was in the summer of 1983 and since then birding has become my life-long passion.

Did you just send me a comment to my Aol? I deleted it as I was not sure from where it came. Sorry for the confusion. Pam
